KonDATA is the institutional research data repository of the University of Konstanz. The service enables the publication of research data and long-term archiving for members of the University and is not limited to individual scientific disciplines.
The repository is operated by the Communication, Information and Media Centre (KIM) of the University of Konstanz and uses the RADAR software service from FIZ Karlsruhe.
Users of the service are advised and supported in the publication of their data and the data sets are checked by curators against predefined criteria - such as completeness and correctness of metadata - before they are made publicly accessible.
KonDATA strives to support the FAIR principles:
- Findable: Published datasets are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and are thus uniquely identifiable and citable. The DOIs and metadata are published via DataCite and can thus also be found outside KonDATA and in search engines.
- Accessible: Published datasets and their metadata are accessible via the KonDATA website. Even if the research data is justifiably deleted, the metadata is preserved.
- Interoperable: The metadata of published datasets use an open and documented metadata standard based on the DataCite metadata schema.
- Re-usable: Research data are published under open licences. Curation prior to publication ensures that the datasets have been documented in a comprehensible way.
